We will use Netscape Corporation's Netscape Navigator (usually just called Netscape) to show you how to set up and use a Web browser. Not that other Web browsers aren't just as good, but right now, Netscape is the browser of choice for over 70% of Web users. You will need Netscape to view this course in all its glory, as it is written specifically for Netscape.

The menus and dialogue boxes in Netscape for Windows and Netscape for the Macintosh are almost identical. Minor details differ, but generally, an item in the Windows version will appear in the same menu and contain the same options as the Macintosh edition. Netscape offers many advantages over other Web browsers. The main reasons it has become so popular are:

[green bullet]>
it allows you to view the text of an HTML file while the graphics are being downloaded

	<DD><IMG SRC=forms-capable and
[green bullet]>
it has built-in SHTTP and other security features.
