HTML documents are plain text files that can be created and viewed with any word processor, so you can use you favorite one. However, special extensions have been written for some programs that make it easier for you to write HTML. These include:
the cu_html.dot
template for Microsoft Word for Windows 2.0 and 6.0
BBEdit Lite with HTML Extensions
for the Macintosh.
HTML editors are becoming available that do a fair job of letting you write HTML in a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) environment. But our mission is to teach you the fundamentals of HTML, so don't take the easy route just yet! You may, however, use an HTML extension to speed up writing HTML files. It's up to you. Whichever you chose, you will be expected to send your Instructor plain text HTML files that you yourself have written. No cheating!
