An Example Lycos Search

ABOVE is the Lycos Home Page. Lycos has a small and a large catalogue. If you click on either to bring up the search form (Netscape is forms-capable), you'll see another page with text windows, where you can type in your subject topic and set the maximum number of hits and style of output. We entered publishing in the Query: window, and set the Max-hits to 10:

When we clicked on the box next to Terse Output, Lycos found no less than 945 documents matching at least one search term. It listed only the first 10, as we had requested. Here's a sample of what we received:
