CBC used to be a very good network, IMHO, but now it seems to have lost its edge, to the point where the local Victoria station is... how shall I say... somewhat floppy?
That's what happens when your funding base gets eroded by an anti-media Conservative government under Brian Mulroney (not to be confused with the future CBC cutbacks no doubt planned by the Harpies of this current New Government).
I did get a chance to do some broadcasting, for which I'm grateful. But unfortunately the funding cuts meant that there is now no budget for freelancers. How are people suppose to be able to break into broadcating if there is no freelance market? We need the quivalent of a PBS network in Canada.
Isn't that what CBC is supposed to be?
